The Old Testament delineates the genealogy of Adam's family tree. Adam, as you recall, was the first man created by God.
This genealogy takes a general, repetitive form : " When THIS PERSON had lived SO MANY years, he became the father of ANOTHER PERSON. Afterwards, STUFF HAPPENS. Altogether, THIS PERSON lived SO MANY YEARS TOTAL, and THEN HE DIED.
This pattern repeats through the generations listed until we get to one man. This one man was the first person to NOT EXPERIENCE DEATH, but instead, the scripture breaks the pattern and reads, "then he was no more, because God took him away [to heaven]."
